How to Check Your WASSCE Results Online

What you need, where to go, and how to fix the errors that come up most often when checking West African Senior School Certificate Examination results.

What you need before you start

• Your index number.
• Your examination year.
• A results checker — this gives you a serial number and a PIN.
• Your date of birth — asked for on some result types, including WASSCE Private.

Step by step

1. Go to ghana.waecdirect.org.
2. Enter your index number.
3. Select the examination type — WASSCE for School Candidates or WASSCE for Private Candidates, whichever applies to you.
4. Select your examination year.
5. Enter your date of birth if the form asks for it.
6. Enter the voucher serial number from your checker.
7. Enter the PIN from your checker.
8. Submit to view your results.

Common problems

"Invalid PIN"

Type the PIN exactly as printed, with no spaces. The characters most often mistaken for each other are 0 and O and 1 and I. The serial number and the PIN are different codes — make sure each one is going into the right box.

"Candidate record not found"

Check the index number against your slip, and confirm you picked the right exam year and the right candidate type. School and Private are separate options and choosing the wrong one returns nothing.

Results withheld or cancelled

This is a decision by WAEC, not a problem with your checker. A new checker will not change it — you would need to take it up with WAEC directly.

The site is slow or will not load

On release day the portal is under heavy load. Wait and try again later, ideally early morning or late at night. Your checker is not consumed by a page that fails to load.
